But being a professional travel photographer requires adaptability and a consistently creative approach to capturing the image you set out to achieve. Rob Howard, a highly acclaimed travel photographer working for publications such as Conde Nast Traveler, has been traveling the world as a photographer for twenty years. In this class Rob will highlight the secrets and strategies necessary to succeed as a travel photographer, such as how to create a travel portfolio, how to overcome cultural barriers and successfully capture the image, and how to ensure a steady workflow. Through his own real world experience, Rob will illustrate how an aspiring photographer can attain success in travel photography and see the world in the process.On Assignment with Travel & Lifestyle Photographer Rob Howard -- Fri/Sat, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm Given a mock assignment to capture a compelling image for the cover of the next issue of a traveling magazine, Rob will take the class out on location to demonstrate from beginning to end what is entailed in producing a beautiful lifestyle and travel image for publication. He’ll share his lighting techniques, his creative composition and control of the scene, and instruct the students how to complete the intended project from beginning to end. Students who sign up will be given the assignment description prior to class and will be given the opportunity to shoot on location and should plan on bringing their camera.A Day in the Life of a Travel Photographer: Completing the Assignment -- Sun, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm With assignment in hand and guided by the expertise of veteran travel photographer Rob Howard, students will meet in Williamsburg Brooklyn for a day of shooting around this iconic and rapidly changing cityscape. The assignments given to students from Rob will focus on different aspects of travel photography with a general theme and narrative to each assignment. After a day of shooting on the streets with Rob, students will return to the studio to edit their work and have it reviewed and critiqued by Rob Howard. |
