PORTRAITURE -- RON LEVINE. Street Portraits: Lighting, the Moment, & Composition -- Fri/Sat, 9:30 pm - 12:30 pm Mastering the lighting and composition of any portrait can be a daunting challenge. Doing this outside the comforts of a studio can make this challenge even more difficult. Ron Levine, a veteran photographer and connoisseur of the portrait, will take a class out on the streets of Manhattan to instruct and demonstrate how to light and compose a portrait, overcoming the obstacles that come with the outside world. The shoot will include models and lighting equipment and students are encouraged to bring their cameras, as the class will include an opportunity to work with the lighting techniques being taught by Ron.Studio Lighting: The Life of a Portrait -- Fri/Sat, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm Lighting is vital to any striking portrait or still life image. Ron Levine has mastered the art of lighting, able to create a broad range of ambiance and sentiment with his signature lighting techniques. In this class, Ron will instruct and demonstrate the various techniques and approaches to lighting a subject in the studio. Using a fully equipped studio, Ron will demonstrate the different affects resulting from different lighting techniques. The class will be taught in a studio with lighting equipment, so students should bring their cameras to participate.The Round Robin Event: Photographing Models on the Streets of NYC -- Sun, 10:00am - 3:00 pm Using the lighting techniques taught from the previous two days with Ron Levine, students will travel around lower Manhattan to three different shoots with models and lighting equipment set up for their use. Given approximately fifteen minutes per shoot, students will then return to the studio to edit their work. After editing is done, they will present their top twenty images to veteran portrait photographer Ron Levine for his critique.
